FCC Shows Off AWS-Toting Motorola VE465

Documents seen on the FCC Web site provide details about a new Motorola clamshell that comes in dual-band CDMA and tri-band CDMA versions. The tri-band variant includes 1700MHz AWS spectrum, which earmarks it for Cricket or MetroPCS. Not many details are provided in the FCC documents, but the photo shows that it has dual displays, external music controls, external speakerphone and Bluetooth indicators and a camera of unknown quality. Motorola has not officially announced this phone, nor has Cricket or MetroPCS said they will sell it.

U.S. Cellular Dances the TwoStep With Samsung

Today U.S. Cellular officially announced the Samsung SCH-r470 TwoStep. The TwoStep recently cleared the FCC, and it is a dual-band CDMA clamshell with Bluetooth. It has a 1.3 megapixel camera and supports microSD cards up to 8GB. It also has an headphone jack, external control pad, and external speakers. Pricing and availability were not disclosed.

LG Reveals VX-8360

At a CES press event tonight, LG revealed the VX-8360, a mass-market clamshell CDMA phone. Key features include EVDO data, dual color displays, memory card slot, external music controls, and a 1.3 megapixel camera. An LG representative indicated it should go on sale this month.

Samsung R470 Pops Up On FCC Site

Today new documents seen on the FCC site revealed an unannounced phone from Samsung. The R470 is a dual-band CDMA clamshell with Bluetooth. Photos reveal that the R470 has a dedicated camera key, USB port, microSD slot, dual displays, headphone jack, external control pad, and external speakers. The draft user manual references easyedge, which is a data service offered by U.S. Cellular.

Announced the Nokia 8208 for the U.S. market

Intended at the time to the U.S. market, as it supports CDMA networks, the new Nokia 8208 is a slide phone for the average band. Measuring 101 x 45.2 x 15.9 mm and weighs 126 grams. The large display is 2.2 “with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels for more than 16 million colors. The camera, however, snaps pictures with a resolution of up to 3 Megapixel with flash, whose photographs are stored in internal memory of 150 MB expandable with microSD cards.
