Fujitsu Sets Up LTE R&D Facility

Today Fujitsu announced that it will begin work on researching and producing long term evolution (LTE) networking technology and gear specifically for the North American market. Fujitsu plans to expand the existing laboratory facilities at its Richardson headquarters to support the development of next-generation wireless technologies. Fujitsu has already developed a 3GPP-compliant LTE system. The company will trial and adapt its LTE technology for network operators at the Richardson facility.

Fujitsu Announces the first Waterproof Cellphone - the F-01A

NTT DOCOMO of Japan and Authentec, fingerprint sensors and solutions provider have announced the new Fujitsu F01A cell phone offering full fingerprint sensor and a waterproof compact form factor made possible by Authentec’s two revolutionary technology. The TrueNav technology for the phone’s touchpad-like navigational control using Authentec’s AES1711 fingerprint sensor and Touchstone packaging which makes the phone resistant to water.

The F-01A is a Symbian-powered mobile phone featuring a 3.5-inch widescreen VGA touchscreen display, a whooping 5.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, built-in GPS which supports Google Maps with Street View, an e-wallet mobile payment capability, and a TV Tuner that supports Japan’s 1Seg mobile TV network.
